The seven major segments of the business services industry vary in the nature of the services they offer, the skill level of their employees, and in whether they provide year-round or temporary help. For businesses, such contractors offer flexibility and sometimes lower costs. The most rapidly growing segments in business services are personnel supply services, which include temporary-help supply services and employment agencies, and computer and data processing services. Other major segments are mailing, reproduction, and stenographic services; services to buildings; advertising; miscellaneous business services; and consumer credit reporting and collection.
