| Sumario: | Studies at the Organization of the European Economic Community in the 1950s began the effort to develop a method for comparing real gross domestic product and national accounts aggregates among countries. The results of the 1985 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) study of multilateral purchasing power parity, which were published in August 1987, will be incorporated into the world-level project of the United Nations Statistical Office. It was decided that it would be useful to calculate bilateral purchasing power parities between the United States and Canada in 1985. Estimates of purchasing power parity and real gross domestic product between those two countries are presented, and the methodology and operational procedures are discussed.
