| Sumario: | A response to a commentary by Stanley et al. that appears in this issue on the writers' “Predicting marital happiness and stability from newlywed interactions,” which appears in the Journal of Marriage and the Family, vol. 60, 1998, pp. 5-22. The writers note that the principle themes of Stanley et al.'s critique were that the writers stated their findings too strongly, they did not fully address the hypotheses being tested, and the results were based on nonreplicated findings. They tackle each of the specific criticisms raised by Stanley et al. in the order that they appeared in their commentary, addressing six methodological issues and two conceptual issue raised.
