      ab: The success of classical music recording company Naxos demonstrates that it is still possible to produce superb classical records and make money. Classical musical lovers are abandoning the $20 recordings from major record labels for Naxos's $6 albums, knowing that the company's discs are every bit as professional as their higher-priced competitors. Some of Naxos's rivals have attempted to compete with its formula, but these companies are burdened with overhead and expensive royalty agreements, and they can only offer comparably-priced records from limited backlists. Some of Naxos's plans for future projects are outlined.
