| Sumario: | A study of sports editors at daily newspapers in the Southeast U.S. was conducted to investigate the use of ethical codes and professional standards in the newspapers' sports departments. Findings revealed that although a growing number of sports departments have applied ethical codes, beliefs and practices that flout ethical norms still continue. It was also demonstrated that sports editors, particularly those at small-circulation dailies, may adhere to a set of norms not tolerated in other parts of the newsroom. |
