| Sumario: | Although Microsoft still dominates the personal-computer market, it knows that its position is under threat. This threat comes from online applications that are changing the way that people use computers. Instead of depending on an operating system and its associated application software—bought in a box from Microsoft and then loaded onto a personal computer—users are increasingly able to access the software that they need over the Internet. In response to this new challenge, Microsoft has undergone a thorough management restructuring, although it has yet to formulate its response. |
