| Sumario: | A study was conducted to investigate the relationship between content and circulation and to determine whether quality improvements affect circulation. Data were drawn from 27 daily newspapers deemed by Editor & Publisher magazine to have raised the quality of their content. Findings demonstrated that investments in newspaper quality in general and in newsroom budgets in particular—more staff and more and better local coverage and in-depth reporting—were positively associated with increases in average weekday circulation. It was noted, however, that redesign did not boost circulation. |
