The center, which was established in 1993, rehabilitates homeless veterans and is funded by a variety of federal and state agencies, donations, businesses, organizations, and events. MCVET provides different types of care, including a 50-person capacity “drop-in” room, a 50-bed emergency shelter, a 120-bed transition facility, and an 80-bed single room occupancy apartment building. Although confined to MCVET grounds for the first 30 days, residents have a range of services, including a cafeteria, medical clinic, library, computer room, and exercise room. The center tolerates no drug or alcohol abuse or misbehavior and residents are required to attend Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: N holdings: @attributes: islocal: N |
