Summary:	A special issue on African-American men in the academy is presented. Topics discussed include: exploring the status of black male faculty, using data from the 1993 and 1999 National Study of Postsecondary Faculty; preparing African-American males for postsecondary options; a cultural contracts theory approach to intimate conversations about race and worldview; an analysis of the African-American male education pipeline; voices from unheard African-American males in engineering disciplines; and expressions of spirituality among African-American college males. An introduction to the special issue is also provided.
