Sumario:Aggregation error effects on the discrete-space p-median model are described, classified, and measured using data for Edmonton, Canada. Along with the three sources of aggregation error recognized by the spatial analysis literature—Source A, B, and C—there is a further source of aggregation error, Source D error, arising from the representation of facility sites by discrete points. Source D effects are of the same magnitude as Source A and B together and are much higher than Source C effects. Further, Source D error, in contrast to Source A and B error, can only be eliminated by disaggregating.
