| Sumario: | A study was conducted to examine whether gender bias causes differences in pay. The female/male occupational wage gap was analyzed in the diverse countries for which adequate data are available in the ILO's 1996 October Earnings Enquiry. Empirical findings cover occupational sectors in medicine, public service, banking, and insurance. Furthermore, some national trends and international differences are indicated. Major research findings are presented on the female/male wage gap and on methodological issues. |
