Sumario:	The article examines two road motion pictures "Una Sombra Ya Pronto Serás" and "El Último Tren." It argues that American road movies offer a model that is readapted to the local considerations of the River Plate region. It highlights rebelliousness as expressed through the rejection of characters of being anchored in cities and/or of showing conforming identities. It discusses that the characters taking the road in the Uruguayan and Argentine road movies belong to the middle-class and carry the destabilization brought about by the execution of neo-liberal measures.
