Sumario:The article discusses applications for real-time sound synthesis and their implementation on graphics processing units. Topics discussed include the use of software for real-time sound generation, the fundamentals of graphics-processing-unit architecture, applications that comprise a multitude of independent audio streams, the use of finite difference approximations for numerical simulations of objects, and the software application "Finite Difference Synthesizer." Conclusions regarding finite difference-based applications run on a graphics processing unit are noted.
