Many thermodynamic quantities can be obtained, often accurately, by this method. The Ising bidimensional ferromagnet (FIB) is a good trial system used here to test different approximations. We compare algorithmic results with analytic calculations to illustrate the matching between the algorithms named Generalized Belief Propagation (GBP) and a family of free energy variational approximations called Cluster Variation Method (CVM). La técnica de los algoritmos de trasmisión de mensajes permite aproximar la energía libre -y el resto de las magnitudes termodinámicas-, de sistemas discretos de espines. El ferromagnético de Ising bidimensional (FIB) es un sujeto de pruebas ideal para ilustrar el funcionamiento de los algoritmos Belief Propagation (BP) y Generalized Belief Propagation (GBP) así como la relación de estos con un método de la física estadística llamado Cluster Variation Method (CVM).
