En este artículo nos proponemos analizar las Actas Parroquiales de la Villa de la Concepción del Uruguay (1783-1820) como fuente para identificar los diversos grupos étnicos que poblaron el tramo inferior del río Uruguay, buscando captar de dónde provenían dichos habitantes originarios y tratando de determinar si entre los migrantes originarios, mayoritariamente guaraníes, se podría reconocer, a partir de un análisis de sus antropónimos, la presencia charrúa, minuana/güenoa o chaná. Para ello encaramos un enfoque interdisciplinario entre la historia y la lingüística, planteando algunas hipótesis sobre el posible origen no guaraní (presumiblemente charrúa) de algunos de los apellidos encontrados.
