| Sumario: | The role of photography in the career of Chilean social anthropologist and archaeologist Horacio Larrain Barros is explored through an essay structured in three parts: his figure, an interview and his way of seeing. With the help of his own testimony, we delineate the interests, reasons, sensibilities, circumstances and techniques behind his photography, in what he himself denominates an eco-anthropological programme. We also delve into this subject through the study of his enormous visual archive, made up of more than 10,000 slides, from which we discuss Horacio Larrain's photography in its own naturalistic, anthropological and conservationist impetus.
