Se indaga en torno al rol de la fotografía en la carrera del antropólogo social y arqueólogo chileno Horacio Larrain Barros a través de un ensayo estructurado en tres tomas: su figura, una entrevista y su modo de ver. Con la ayuda de su propio testimonio se delinean los intereses, razones, sensibilidades, circunstancias y técnicas detrás de su fotografía, lo que él mismo denomina un programa eco-antropológico, asunto al cual nos adentramos también mediante el estudio material de su enorme acervo visual, compuesto de más de 10 mil diapositivas. A partir de este acercamiento reflexionamos respecto de la fotografía de Horacio Larrain en su propio ímpetu naturalista, antropológico y conservacionista.
