Sumario:Supermarkets have proved themselves adept at promoting books to the top of the charts through a mix of instore activity and attractive price cuts. For publishers, the deep discounts that supermarkets command have mostly been a price worth paying, in exchange for substantial sales, often to customers who would not otherwise have bought those books. Sales of many frontlist titles have increased since supermarkets became seriously involved in the book market. When dealing with début authors, publishers have been delighted with huge supermarket orders and the promise of energetic price promotions.
