It was originally developed by Piazza and Siebert (2008). This research is descriptive in nature and grounded in the survey model. The population of the study consists of 5h and 8th grade secondary school students studying in the province of Burdur and the sample is comprised of 322 students chosen from 6 schools in the same province. The data collection tool is Piazza and Siebert's (2008) writing tendency scale, adopted into Turkish for the purpose of this study. The scale embodies the components of passion, confidence and continuity. According to the results, more positive tendencies were observed among male students compared to female students; among 5th grade students compared to 8th grade students; among those students involved in free writing activity compared to those who were not, among those loving the Turkish classes compared to those who did not, and among those students with high marks compared to those with low marks. Bu çalışmanın amacı Piazza ve Siebert tarafından (2008) geliştirilerek Türkçeye uyarlaması yapılan yazma eğilimi ölçeğini ortaokul 5. ve 8. sınıf öğrencilerine uygulayarak öğrencilerin yazmaya yönelik eğilimlerini belirlemektir. Araştırma, tarama modelinde betimsel bir alan araştırmasıdır. Araştırmanın evrenini, Burdur il merkezinde öğrenim gören ortaokul 5. ve 8. sınıf öğrencileri, örneklemini ise random yöntemiyle aynı il merkezindeki altı ortaokuldan seçilmiş toplam 322 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Piazza ve Siebert tarafından (2008) geliştirilerek Türkçeye uyarlaması yapılan tutku, güven ve süreklilik boyutlarından oluşan yazma eğilimi ölçeği uygulanmıştır.
