Description
Summary:This article focuses on the influence of bestseller lists on sales of books. Negotiations between publishers and Entertainment UK, the wholesaling intermediary for leading supermarkets including Tesco Corp. continue to be tense. The bestseller lists gave the supermarkets an extra lever: Tesco, in particular, could tell mass market publishers that their books would be unlikely to get to number one in the charts without sales through its branches. It is a tribute to Nielsen BookScan's data that the bestseller lists are more influential now than ever before.
