| Sumario: | The healthcare industry is lagging in workforce diversity and representation across professional and leadership roles. Professional development practices in both undergraduate and graduate health administration education programs should prepare students to lead inclusively. We developed the inclusive excellence model (IEM) to guide educators and academic program leaders in preparing students to effectively lead a diverse workforce, and to develop and sustain inclusive organizational cultures. The model seeks to highlight key concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural intelligence that can be applied across all levels of instruction and within a variety of courses. The model is based on existing cultural intelligence frameworks, and concepts of each are woven into the curricular elements of the IEM. The model presented here consists of inclusive teaching strategies as well as methods for incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural intelligence into curricula in order to develop inclusive graduates and foster self-awareness. Successful implementation of a model of inclusive excellence is highly dependent on the engaged support of faculty, department leadership, and the institutional environment. The skills in this model empower students to become cultural change agents within organizations.
