Four main aspects of a motivational program for poor readers have been described. First, the teacher must be able to convey to the learner the feeling that he is accepted, liked and understood. Second, the efforts of the learner must meet with success from the start. Third, interest must be captured and maintained through the utilization of both interesting materials and interest-sustaining procedures.
