| Sumario: | The article investigates the matter of special education for mildly retarded children. Socio-culturally deprived children with mild learning problems need better education than special class placement. Such children are labeled educable mentally retarded. The purpose of this study is to (1) provide reasons for taking the position that the large proportion of special education is obsolete and unjustifiable, based from the point of view of the pupils, and (2) to outline a blueprint for changing the major part of education intended for the exceptional children to be more acceptable. |
