Sumario:	The article reports on the problems encountered by graduate programs for the training of science teachers for schools an colleges in the U.S., based on a study by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Robert E. Yager, a science professor, wrote the new report for the NSF, in which he stated that the teaching profession has become isolated from other disciplines and has lost autonomy on the campus. The findings by Yager were taken from a survey of more than 350 universities in the U.S.
