| Sumario: | The article presents a theoretical model and technological platform for video-based human-computer interfacing. Issues of increased computational ability in computer technology are contrasted with standard input-output structures in data entry. The traditional visual interaction cues (VIC) paradigm is described along with the additional implementation of a 4-dimensional touchpad video input platform to bypass conventional interface restrictions. Challenges facing the combined system, including geometric calibration, foreground segmentation, gesture recognition, and the development of a gesture language are each addressed.
