Developers of software for Apple Inc.'s iPhone can sell their wares directly to customers from an Apple Web site and retain a majority of the proceeds. Developers of games for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox Live Community Games system similarly enjoy a favorable split of revenues. This mode of commerce creates opportunities for developers, but is also apt to produce clutter in the marketplace. |
