| Sumario: | This article explores the general characteristics of each of the three basic orientations to the issue of administrator names. They include the overt-historical, covert-qualitative and hybrid-institutional orientation. Major strengths and weaknesses of each as approaches to administrator identity are examined. It also explains briefly why the author thought that the hybrid-institutional orientation might be a tool for archive-based institutional critique. It is concluded that the three orientations are points on a continuum rather than as completely distinct positions. |
