| Sumario: | This article describes a read-aloud teaching program that was used to introduce primary students to science. The program allowed students to interact with ideas in texts that were above their reading levels and exposed them to important ideas, such as scientific inquiry. Research has shown that read-aloud sessions positively affect reading achievement and that student discussions during read-alouds help students to develop understanding about the scientific concepts. Engaging the students in the read-aloud process by using a combined science/literacy approach has been proven to also develop students' literacy skills. |
