| Sumario: | Part of a roundtable on trans-focused pedagogical issues within women's studies. Transdisciplinary efforts in the university environment facilitate the possibility of having programs, departments, teaching styles, and research that are situated in between the rigid structures of traditional academic disciplines. As a result, they have the potential to reshape the process of knowledge creation and transmission. The experiences of a number of doctoral students in a transdisciplinary social science program shed light on the overarching and powerful norms directing understandings of space and place within the academy, as well as the consequences of violating these norms. Two commentaries are also presented.
