Subjects were younger and older adults who performed lexical decisions on ambiguous words, unambiguous words, and pseudowords and simultaneously responded to an auditory probe presented at stimulus onset asynchronies of 90 ms, 180 ms, or 270 ms. Findings revealed that word meaning has an influence on the allocation of attention similarly for younger and older adults.
