| Sumario: | The article discusses Fabrican, a spray-on clothing product in development by Fabrican Ltd. The author reflects on the concepts behind the product and its relationship to craft, commodity fetishism, and object agency. It is suggested that popular and media reactions to the product, and its marketing as a preindustrial yet futuristic invention, have illustrated cultural ambivalence towards industrial modes of production. According to the author, the concept of spray-on clothing also illustrates cultural insecurities surrounding body image. |
