| Sumario: | Extending the traditional learning experiences of adult students into new learning experiences can potentially be enriching. This article reports on part of an investigation done for a Master's dissertation (Van Tonder, 2015) and focuses on the experiences of students, tutors, and institutional management when employing a hybrid study approach in adult learning. A qualitative research approach, namely a case study, was used at both a South African and an American higher education institution. The study finds that in the move toward a society where students are interconnected, adult students intentionally search for educational settings that support their way of learning. Moreover, a redress and reform of training and education in South Africa, especially with the integration of technology is needed in order to adapt to a changing global economy.
