This article reports on part of an investigation done for a Master's dissertation (Van Tonder, 2015) and focuses on the experiences of students, tutors, and institutional management when employing a hybrid study approach in adult learning. A qualitative research approach, namely a case study, was used at both a South African and an American higher education institution. The study finds that in the move toward a society where students are interconnected, adult students intentionally search for educational settings that support their way of learning.
