| Sumario: | The article discusses alternative approaches to dissertation which is a traditional requirement in graduate schools. Widening the scope of available techniques in dissertation writing will increase the interests and abilities of doctoral candidates. Informal seminars should be held more frequently to allow students and teachers to discuss research problems. Costs can be shared and skills can be used in complementary ways if students writing empirical dissertations will be allowed to work in groups. To acquire balance of knowledge within the group, dissertation members should include those who understand the practice in particular fields and those who are sophisticated in techniques but do not necessarily know the practice. |
