Sumario:Students with learning disabilities (LD) often exhibit an externally directed sense of control resulting in limited independence skills that can be reflected as dysfunctional career thoughts as measured by the Career Thoughts Inventory (CTI; Sampson, Peterson, Lenz, Reardon, Saunders 1996). This can become a major hindrance to the career planning process. A sample of 139 high school students with LD completed the CTI. Findings showed statistically significant differences between scores obtained by LD students and the normative sample on the CTI's External Conflict scale. Implications for the use of the CTI in the career counseling process are discussed.
